Play has begun on the first ever Ada County vs. The Rest Of The State Server Chess Match. The Correspondence Chess League of America (CCLA) is one of the oldest chess organizations in the United States, but this style of competition is brand new and uses technology that should improve the whole concept of Correspondence play. Without having to worry about repeat moves or time complaints, these games should come along very quickly and be more exciting to the players, which should translate to even better games than Correspondence already lends itself. Blunders are minimized because players have time to think about their moves.

Dick Vandenburg is team captain for Ada County (ADACT), and Jay Simonson is team captain for The Rest of the State (TROTS). This match has a very nice blend of players from all generations. This is actually a coincidence but is highly appropriate because chess is a game for everyone.

The players are able to look at books and chess databases, but are NOT allowed to discuss the games or moves with another person or to use a computer analysis engine or computer that actually plays. In this way players are able to study openings open book style and improve their game without losing the basic concept that a game of chess is played between two opponents.
