January 9, 1975 Dear Chess Friend: I regret to tell you that I'd better postpone the Eastern Idaho Open. The deciding reason is the always present threat of road closure, which would leave the tourney director and organizer (me) stranded. That would mean disappointment to many, some who might travel, only to find no tourney is there. Often Highway 33 is closed when there is no general road trouble. For that, and a few other reasons, the '75 E.I.O. had best be set back to next fall. In its place, anyone who wishes please write to me and set up a Saturday -- three game type tourney -- USCF, low fees, Sunday free, and so forth. Such a tourney is offered January 25th, in Driggs, at the Pines Motel. Sincerely, Eugene L. Cowan
