2007 Southern Idaho Open
(November 10-11, Jackpot, NV)

Crosstable Games Flyer

The 2007 Southern Idaho Open was held in Jackpot, Nevada on November 10/11, 2007. The tournament was directed by Barry Eacker and Jeff Roland. Eleven players took part in the event with a total of 25 games deciding everything (in each round, one player either had a voluntary half-point-bye or a full point bye awarded by the tournament). The Idaho State Chess Champion, Hans Morrow, who now lives in Salt Lake City was in attendence. Randy Zumbrunnen of Salt Lake City was also in attendance. The other 9 players were all from Idaho.

The competition was very tough and hard fought. Only ½ point separated the top 4 finishers. There were some very nice games played. 1st-2nd place was a tie between Randy Zumbrunnen, Salt Lake City and Luke Harmon, Boise with 4 points each. There was also a tie for 3rd-4th place between Jeff Roland, Boise and Barry Eacker, Twin Falls.

As has been the custom in the last few years, the event was held at the Barton 93 Hotel and Casino. This has always been a fantastic site providing a great atmosphere for chess. We wish to thank the folks at the Barton 93 for providing us with such a great site and for being wonderful hosts.
