We had a fun Novice tournament at West Junior High, in Boise, on Saturday, January 31, 2009. 95 students entered in five divisions: K-1, 2, 3, 4-6 and 7-12. Entries came from as far away as Jerome, Donnelly, Caldwell and Emmett, in addition to "local" players from the Boise, Meridian, and Nampa school districts.

The following is a direct quote from the Chief TD...

Although not an "official" part of the TD staff, Dick Vandenburg should be listed and exalted as the overall tournament organizer and coordinator (organization, publicity/promoting, correspondence, purchase of awards, onsite registration, policing of overall tournament, and distribution of honors and awards, etc.) since without his efforts the 2009 Idaho Scholastic Novice and 2009 Idaho Scholastic Girls Championship would not have been held. Much gratitude should be expressed directly to Dick who through heroic efforts has virtually single handedly kept both of these events moving forward.
